They Say, I Say

What I got from reading throughout the assigned reading, was that a writer should be more precise about what they’re trying to push across.

They used the example of Doctor X, whom they say spent a bunch of time not really getting to the point, leaving his listeners/and readers/in the dark about his ideas.

It is filled with, more appropriate texts, that should be used over the filler ones, many of us use now;

“…In Discussions of X…My own view…”(26)

These are a more tangible and intelligible way to go about your wording, especially when discussing a topic of issue, even more so one that your trying to push your point across the board.

Later in the book, it spoke on how, different topics of essays should be written in different manners. Not following a singular generic format, which is what most, self included do.

“…Thus if your writing in response to the essay by Zinczenko…different summary than will an essay on parenting, corporate regulation, or warning labels…”

This concept of writing in different essay styles, that reflect the topic can be useful, especially if trying to take a more or less serious undertone.
