For the concept of properly citing work and integrating outside sources into my own texts, I’ve included the link to my major project, which is my third essay. Throughout the entirety of the introduction and body paragraphs, I’ve used several examples of properly signaling a quote and then embedding the quote fluidly into the paper. Some of these examples include, Kara Poe Alexander defines a victim narrative as, “a victim of negative literacy experiences, in or out of school; casts blame for negative literacy experiences; discusses how someone took the fun out of reading and writing”. (Alexander 615) In this leading phrase and eventual quote, I introduced the quotes author, then I embedded the quote itself, and in the end credited the author with an in text citation. Another way I showed this, was through the usage of a block quote, which typically comes into play when a quote reaches and exceeds four lines,

“They also might see victim narratives as constituting a critique more in line with the assignment expectations than other moves might be. In sum, the popularity of the victim cultural narrative is important because it allows us to understand that although students may view their literate futures in terms of success, they view their literate pasts in terms of victimhood.”(Alexander 618)

At the end of the paper, is my works cited, which identifies and gives credit to those sources that I had used throughout my paper.
